Lincoln Talked to African Americans About Colonization
Lincoln invited a delegation of black dignitaries into the white house. He told them that emancipation could be achieved by sending all blacks out of the country. The idea had been popular among anti-slavery americans at the time. Lincoln was trying to set up an argument that even if emancipation should occur, there was no need for white Americans to worry about integration or living alongside african mericans.
