All psychologists, when they get their registration, start out as generalists. They can then do a further two years of practice to apply for endorsement in their field of study. For me, I did my masters in education and developmental psychology so that was my area of endorsement after the two-year period. educational generally means that we can work in schools, but developmental means that you can work across the lifespan.
