There are people who get hemisphere ecstomies where the whole left hemisphere gets removed or they're born without one. These are still people who have conscious lives so it's weird to think the presence of a functioning left hemisphere would suddenly rob the right hemisphere of consciousness there but to cause an imperfect level of information sharing across the hemispheres is just perverse, he says. "If you buy the fact that dividing the hemisphere divides consciousness then anything less than perfect information transfer would dictate some satellites of consciousness"
