The Story of Arthur Kamori and Richard Sakakita
Arthur Kamori and Richard Sakakita enlisted into the US Army's Corps of Intelligence Police. They posed as sailors who had jumped ship in order to avoid the pending military draft. While there, they gathered intelligence on the activities of Japanese citizens in Manila. He performed his undercover duties so well that he was eventually arrested by the Philippine police because he was caught raising a toast to the Japanese Emperor after the attacks on Pearl Harbor and Manila. In late 1943, he is one of the very few qualified and highly experienced Nisei linguists.
