The Translation of a Book
Smith said the writing on the plates looked similar to hieroglyphics. He took the plates home and began translating them into english, using the interpreters. When the translation was complete, they had a book that was nearly 600 pages long. The story offers a thousand year history of a group of israelite refugees who fled jerusalem prior to the babylonian destruction of that city.
