The Third Factor on the Path Up the Mountain

The third factor on the path is right speech. Right speech means speech which is free of lying, of slander, of gossip and useless talk. It's speech which cultivates gentleness and softness and harmony and unity. When we abstain from that kind of useless talk, it's as if that gray cloud which hovers over the mind is just dispelled. That kind of thought development puts us into a very great harmony with everything around us. A true relationship begins to begins to be established between ourselves and all other beings.
