Napoleon Bonaparte's Expedition to Corsica
After his release from jail, Napoleon was given the go ahead to invade corsica. The island had been home to a garrison of redcoats and main base for british fleet operating in western on some in french army high command. Italy managed to scrape together around 15 thousand men to enter savona and evict austrians and piedmontes. Massena napoleon used the speed of republican troops to outoeuvre their forces into retreat without fighting a battle.
