Is Line of Sight a Problem in Real-Time Combat Games?

Time of empires gets a lot right. I would like to give a plug to two real-time games that I've had zero success in introducing the people one of them is called hurry cup by Antoine Boza and so far everyone but me has hated it. The only serious problem I had with meck command rts was fixed player count of four married to a campaign system. You can do across the board shots because on the base of every meck is a little light which means you have line of sight.
