Sain gor starts with racial essentialism cesere with the political condition of having been colonized. He does not deny that the black people at the conference represent a diversity of cultures, but he does argue that cultures can be grouped by their affinities into families or civilizations. Just as we can speak of french, italian and german culture belonging to a larger european civilization.
