The Connection Between Glamour and Grammar in the Middle Ages
Grammar became synonymous with Latin in the Middle Ages. The word also referred to a knowledge of magic, witchcraft and astrology. That was the sense of the word that developed in the North, in Scotland. People tend to be enchanted by someone who is beautiful and dressed up in elaborate clothing. This led to the modern sense of glamour and glamorous.
