Over time the employers adapt to this understanding of service as sort of indeterminate obligations with no time limit so as to produce much clearer rules about work. You see that historically now what I really we don't want to make anyone think that this is the only consideration because it firms employers have to weigh up things about legal advantages and disadvantages of certain decisions versus practicalities or other advantages and disadvantages. The law signals to both to workers and employers about what is deemed legitimate and illegitimate in a very complicated but helpful way.
