Light infantry profits from a psychological operations edge and must be prepared to use this advantage. The hearts and minds role in low intensity conflict is one to which the light infantry normally is very sensitive. Light infantry leaders are generally of higher quality than conventional infantry leaders, but I don't think they're generally of a higher quality. Political action is often needed to support the light infantry operations.
