In the 19th century, America was as poor as India is today. We decided we were going to set up buildings and have to put people in those buildings in every single community for high school education. In order to give ether anesthesia appropriately without killing people, you had to double the number of people in the operating room. And it's communism that made the United States one of the powerhouse countries in the world when it started out as this sleepy, agricultural country.
