What's the Best Methodology for the Modern Muslim?

In light of all these issues that we have raised, what's the best methodology for the modern Muslim today? I guess both avenues do have their weight in our tradition. Prophetic sunna was maybe short temporary periods of seclusion after which there was some serious engagement. On a weekly basis, you can balance between them. If you go all day without, other than your prayer times, we all need moments of stillness and tranquility on a daily basis.
