Banana Plantations - What Is It Like?

Suyapa Púrteo Vieva is an associate professor of Chicana, Chicano, Latino, La Bina, Transnational Studies at Pitzer College in Claremont. She says a banana plantation was a really difficult place to work. People would carry 100 pounds or more of bananas on their backs and were often bitten by poisonous snakes.
