The Moratorium on Flu Research
Flu workers were trying to engineer diseases which were not human transmissible, into being human transmissible types of flu. So they said, well, it will make some mutants, and will then pass them amongst ferrets. And so what's happened now? We've come out of that moratorium period, and this research is continuing. If this work was to proceed unfettered, I would predict within 18 months, there would be numerous Spanish flu type viruses sitting in freezers. In 10 years we'll have a networking shape - we're up against the clock.
