The Importance of Empathy in Healthcare
i had a really interesting story the other day where somebody had an addiction problem and the boss came around to their house. They said well we need you back as a doctor you're a good doctor um but you you need to sort this out and we'll support you. i think it's important to make sure that they have heard the important bits at these interventions with a list of helpful numbers. It's another suicide gap uh a suicide trap if you just send someone home after blowing their life up, even though they live on their own. Liz and Ruth suggested being empathetic about being caring not judging them or making things worse because they are not ready to engage with the process yet.
