The Problem With Opening Up Capital Punishment to Drug Dealing
The Fifth Amendment says no person shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime unless dot, dot, dot. Which means capital punishment is perfectly acceptable in the context of the Constitution. John Avlon: If we open up capital punishment to something like drug dealing, do we not then open up the door to sliding down the slope to all sorts of other things?Avlon: 4% of those subject to death in the United States wind up being innocent in the first place.
