Is There a Difference Between Copying and Copying?
Paintings are about how people are related to each other and their relationships, not abouto that way of reaching outside of the frame to make as if he was copying something else. He doesn't want to actually take an external reference, but he wants o fine and internal logic. Everybody's just like, a little bit different from the person next to them. And so he's created kind of internal logic where your belonging is really the thing that identifies you,. It's not about you as an individual, but itas you as part of a group.
