The Importance of Hooks in Drupal
A hook to me could be at any point in the code process. I think about it as like plug-ins for lack of a better term. The ones that you're talking about are the life cycle of a component, right? When it gets created, when it gets mounted before destroy, after destroy. That kind of stuff in the lifecycle of a component. So it is hooks, but not in the classic sense of the term, I guess.
