The Evolution of the Event Horizon Telescope
Scientists create flexible mirrors for space telescopes. They use a technique called chemical vapor deposition to bond reflective material onto a flexible membrane. Then they shape this flexible mirror into the parabolic shape that it will need to be when it's in space. The version they tested so far is quite small, but they're working on a one-meter version next.
