Most of our swimmers aren't balanced enough to swing well enough. So I like to start with the drill where their hand is out in front. Also don't mind it with a fly kick because it helps engage the core and keep the hips nice and stable. It's all about feel and feel the amount of power you've got when your hands are in front of your stroke and then hold through the back of your stroke.
