By the time bruno was writing about heliocentrism, it had come once again to the forefront of cosmological discussion in the mid fifteenth century. Copernicus had published six books concerning the revolutions of the heavenly orbs just a few years before bruno's birth. So though bruno's writing was just supporting what other intellectuals at the time were already espousing, he was definitely doing so when the idea was far from a settled matter.
