I think she would have called herself probably a unorthodox Christian which is always a little bit in the kind of dangerous in a way. She quotes from the Bible extensively but in such a way I think she sees herself as a kind of Christ figure, writes about her free love doctrine. People deliberately give it a kind of shameful negative interpretation implying that it's really just a kind of base license to be sexual with whomever you want according to Anne Lamott.
