The Rise of Seasonal Charter Airlines in Europe

There is a much more robust vacation charter industry in Europe. US consumers aren't as interested in vacation packages as Europeans have been. The big European airlines commanded premium fares. Once Ryanair and EasyJet got bigger, the charter carriers had a tougher time financially in Europe. Peter also mentioned wet lease arrangements where an airline hires another carrier, such as a charter outfit, to provide specific flights.
