Many support regiments rose up against their British commanders in April 1857. The rebellion continued to spread and eventually got to the capital of New Delhi. These suppoys promoted Baha'Dor Shah Zafar the last Mughal emperor as the true ruler of India. But even with the rebellion put down there were changes to come in the Indian subcontinent.
