The Misreading of the Jews in the Gospels
The idea that the Jews rejected Jesus to build Christian theology on is a misreading. The Gospels are full of giant crowds of Jews following Jesus and he was not alone in diagnosing some of his contemporaries with hypocrisy. In Shabbat 31b, there's an interesting section that's discussing those that are studying Torah without the fear of God Or the fear of heaven as they call it. And so very interesting to read Jesus' words in light of some of that context That other later rabbis would agree with.
