A Woman's Body Is Always on Display
I hope this book will go on to do in the world is that clarifying how much of gender comportment requires a disciplining of the body and the voice. How much of it is a performance no matter the formality of the space. The thing about Amma singing for me is it was especially if there was no tape recorder it was just a way to kind of work on a section and have her watch me because she was also my greatest critic. She would like this is neither here nor there but I used to have to keep her in my peripheral because she would like Twitch and it would be distracting. There's an awareness that you're a woman's body is always on display always
