What Happened to the Transformers?

The Transformers cartoon started out as a commercial for these toys, but it became something bigger. It visually represented the show in a way that a comic or a toy couldn't. I kind of wish that the animation had been more planned out or given more time. But that would be handled later in fan fiction and comic books.
