The Challenges of Chatbots

AI has so far knocked down a lot of the challenges. But as you point out in the book, one of the great challenges is to engage in dialogue. Why is that the key one that machines seem to be struggling with? So I think there are two reasons, basically. Every dialogue is different. And so there is no data which is regular in such a way that we can use it to train a machine learning system. The second problem is that humans are able to engaging in dialogue, sometimes in very complicated dialogue. If you have three tuples of question answer or utterance,. response, utterance, response, then you get more combinations and there are particles in the observable universe.
