James's Disappointment

MPs passed a declaration for the recovery of the palatinate, professing their willingness to go to war if diplomatic efforts were unsuccessful. James didn't leave it there. He hauled in sands, had him questioned, and slung in jail for a while. Then he cancelled those 18 monopolies as Parliament wanted, but followed up with a blow to the solar plexus. It was against MPs into meddling in foreign policy that were the affairs of kings and kings only. A declaration which required a good knowledge of boot manufacture would no doubt have been useful.
