The joy that we would get by knowing that we're making someone's mind more at peace, I think that also should be a significant promoter of the use of therapeutic fibbing. When a person with dementia is experiencing notable short-term memory loss and then loses a loved one, families struggle to determine if they should tell them about their death. Did you and Elaine ever experience a situation like that? Or if not, how would you approach it? Well the answer is yes, we did have that experience.
