Zachary: People fool themselves on this because they say, oh, look at all this workload in this big warehouse. It's like, wait a minute, how big is the individual query? Because if you just have lots of queries that need to run simultaneously, you can distribute them onto a farm of independent nodes That each don't actually share information with one another. And then there are other things you can do. Even if you have one query that's too big, if it's only like 10 times too big, there's some tricks you can pull in order to take pieces of the workload and distribute it without having to tackle the really costly pieces of true distributed processing.
