How to Speak Slowly and Pausing

Many times you just speak without actually thinking and a classic example maybe as well as teachers is echoing basically just saying what you're thinking. I think one of the big things though is being comfortable with silence of just taking the pause so for example in that moment let's say you drop a pen if you've got nothing actually to say at that point just silence. It takes a lot of guts to do that sometimes because people don't like silences so they just go on speaking.
