The Relationship Between Authority and the Crowds

The relationship between authority and the crowds is on display here in the last few chapters of the book of mathew. In that coliseum, the crowds really did have a louder voice than the emperor. They cannot just go arrest jesus. They got to catch him at a vulnerable point when he's exposed - then they can start the ball rolling. If the initial shock of the event can be not public, that makes it easier for them to just do things.
