"Sometimes it can be very difficult To honestly face the reality of demand When we are familiar with the sacrifices We made to acquire something," he says. "Even though you paid a lot for it You're going to continue to pay more for it In non-financial terms By harboring the stress And the guilt And the self-condemnation and resentment Of having something That's taking up space in your life when you don't want it" He goes on to say that letting go of material possessions is an opportunity cost, especially if they add value to one's life. 'You actually get to have some joy From letting of these things now'
