The island of missing tree is a new book by elif shafa. The author wanted the story to be free from tribalism or nationalism. Alif chaffa once made a discovery about a well travelled tree. When i was in michigan and arbor, I remember meeting italian families who would bury their fig trees if the winters were particularly harsh. Burial turns out to be a widespread practice.
