The Origins of Parliamentary Divisions
The Labour Party conspired to force a vote on the Boris Johnson inquiry. The origin of parliamentary divisions goes back to Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII's attempt to divest himself of his first wife. They use divisions as a way of smoking out opponents, right? So they could visibly see who had voted against the king. And that's basically what the Labour Whips were doing. It was employing the same tactics as Thomas Cromwell to flush out people who were prepared to actually go on the record to support Boris Johnson. In the end, there were seven of them that weren't there. Who basically fell into Labour's trap, advertising how thin the support was for Boris Johnson in Parliament.
