The Moral Complexity of Michael Jordan
The cynicism of framing this story as one of Black empowerment really cut the wrong way when I started thinking about it. It's an interesting figure and Affleck's performance just doesn't get there at all. And so that also lends the movie this quality of like, wouldn't it be fun if we all got to hang out and make a movie about Michael Jordan as opposed to what if we made a movie about the actual moral complexity of this? Maybe the better for my ghost than me because they didn't make that movie. But like, I know, and they should know better.
