I was really struck by the detailed, almost photographic beauty of the figures that you play. Sometimes theyre in boats, sometimes there on mountain sides or by icebergs and the beautiful skin tone. In my works, the black figure is decidedly in the centre of the painting. What i wanted do as to create a kind of light that dances across the skin to celebrate different ways in which black skin can be depicted. There's so much space for learning how to depict black and brown bodies.
