As the company scaled, it did so aggressively, often fighting with cities for the right to exist alongside the taxi medallion system. Frida spent hours talking to Uber's senior executives about what she thought needed to change. Then in 2017, an Uber engineer named Susan Fowler wrote on her blog about her terrible year with the company. It was exactly the kind of abusive behavior Frida had fought against for decades. The Cape Hores were at an uncomfortable crossroads.
