What Is America's National Interest?

British foreign policy for a couple of centuries and their national interest was that no single power come to dominate the continent of Europe. Britain historically over centuries tended to ally with the relatively weaker side in a confrontation between two sets of powers on the continent so that's almost like a gimme right this? Is it easier to define the national interest in a multipolar world? Well I would turn that on its head it is again go back to what you said at the very beginning it is harder to define thenational interest in a unipolar world because that unipolar is so powerful and is so unthreatened that it has the space to do almost anything it wants.
