The Long-Term Effects of Bariatric Surgery on Health

In the more than 40 years at bariatric surgeries have been performed there have been no randomized controlled clinical trials that have shown any long-term improvements to actual health. Three years after surgery the typical patient is still quote-unquote obese most importantly they concluded that based on the quality and strength of the available evidence claims of improved quality of life are less conclusive. The recent lap band clinical trials done to earn the FDA approval reported 89 percent of patients had at least one adverse event but lindo bacon says bariatric surgery would be more appropriately labeled high-risk disease-inducing cosmetic surgery rather than a health enhancing procedure.
