The Importance of Virtue to the Moral Life
The aim of human life is the charity to fulfill the two full commandment, to love God and love neighbor. If we're not loving rightly, then what's deepest enough is being thwarted. The faculty which is steepest in us is the will. And you can think of all of the virtues as removing obstacles to our loving rightly.
