The Importance of Imitative Desire

The more people like to think that they're independent in rejecting the dominant culture and narrative, the more they end up imitating it or becoming it. It's kind of like why all hipsters look alike. That seems to be an ancient problem, but even more so, a modern problem where you have mass media and communication. Gerard is pretty important today because it helps us at least begin to navigate these complex waters of propaganda, desire, imitation, and then what it means to lead a good life.
