Thrombocytopenic Purpara - What You Need to Know

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpara is a condition that causes tiny little blood clots to form throughout the body. It's caused by a deficiency in an enzyme called Adam TS13, which chops up Von Wahlbrand factor and activates platelets diffusely. And so if Adam TS13 is deficient, we're talking about an autoantibody directed against it. This can lead to micro angiopathic hemolytic anemia or thrombotic micro angiopathy.
