"I've quit the classroom twice, actually. I quit in chicago in 20 15 to go work at a university for two years," she says. "And i came out here and the working conditions were so horrific that i could not even bear it because my dignity had been taken away from me." She's now teaching seventh grade science with students who have come from all walks of life.
