Are the Stands a Competition Between Russia and China?
The stands is a competition very much between Russia and China for influence, but they also coexist. It's the Kremlin which really does the political maneuvering on a sort of day to day basis,. But if China says we need you to rethink things or if it creates atmosphere where it's more pro-Russia then that will exert influence. And what we've been watching in these military war games in Central Asia is going to be very interesting to see over next few weeksif there's more concrete changes in direction.
