What Is Strauss's Theory?
Strauss is looking for, just like we see in Kant, he is looking for underlying patterns of thought and action. He's thinking about this in terms of cultures. So if you look at rituals, every culture has rituals. But the fundamental institution is one that shows up in cultures that are rather disconnected from one another.
