How Much Energy Does a Nuclear Bomb Produce?
What you actually see from a nuclear bomb depends on how that energy is absorbed or not. A lot of the energy gets dumped into matters immediately surrounding the bomb, right? And so it's absorbed very, very rapidly by the stuff around the bomb, which expands that matter and creates a shockwave. On average, about half of the energy of a nuclear bomb go above these shockwaves.
